D. Edward Artist Biography
Oakland native currently living in Los Angeles, D. Edward, is an award winning Singer/Songwriter/Multi-Instrumentalist. Latin Grammy nominated Percussionist. The winner of an Indie Music Channel Award for Best R&B Producer, the OIM People's Choice Award, and has been nominated for 2 Hollywood Music in Media Awards and an Oakland Indie Award.
His performances are entertaining and energetic. He performs live in different ensembles from solo singer/songwriter shows, to a duo or trio, to a full 9 piece band.
His music is a blend of Retro Soul & Pop with catchy hooks and melodies. The first single/music video and title track from his “Love Is” album, premiered on Magic Johnson's Aspire TV Network and his second single/music video, "Show Me", was added to MTV.com, VH1.com and SonicCentricTV on Roku. His first solo album, Little Red Box and Love Is, gained radio airplay around the USA and his single, "Truly", broke the Top 20 of the FMQB Adult Contemporary Chart. He’s a ReverbNation “Featured Artist” and his music can be heard on Pandora, iHeart, Apple Music, Tidal and Spotify radio among others.
He has the ability to sound different on different songs yet keep his own style.
He's an accomplished percussionist too, he was a member of the R&B/Funk legends ConFunkShun for 13 years, and can be heard on their 2015 release, More Than Love, that went to #23 on the Billboard R&B chart, and on the Latin Grammy nominated album Adelante by Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band nominated for Best Children's album. He's also performed with Bobby Kimball from Toto, Janelle Monaé, Vernon Reid and Michael Cooper.
He’s been a Board member of the FilAm Creative LA , Keep Music Rockin’ Foundation, the Balanced Breakfast local music meet ups, and a voting member of the Recording Academy/The Grammys, ASCAP, West Coast Songwriters, National Association of Recording Industry Professionals (NARIP)
